Some people say, ‘That was my fate,’ or ‘This is my destiny’ at every opportunity, and many feel powerless in face of their fate.
Actually, one’s self and one’s fate are two different things. Your fate is not your present self. It is a manifestation of what you thought and did before. It is showing itself now while in the process of vanishing away. It is disappearing now in front of your eyes.
So, even if your fate and your circumstances seem bad, this does not mean that you are bad now. And for the same reason, even if your fate is splendid, it is not because you are good and great now. If your circumstances are harsh or unpleasant, do not grieve over them, blame yourself, or feel ashamed of your present self. And if you feel that your circumstances are good, just be grateful for them without being prideful or conceited. If things like these are just fading away, where, then, is the ‘you’ of the present? It exists within the great divine mind.
Your present self is one ray of the infinite life of the universe, holding its own unique character. All the conditions that appear in front of this infinite self are in the process of fading away.
If you consistently believe this, you will no longer be annoyed by fears or worries about life and death, and you will develop an unwavering spirit that comprehends the eternity of your life.
