Suppose ‘A’ runs a hundred meters in ten seconds and ‘B’ in eleven seconds.
If ‘A’ says to ‘B,’ ‘I run faster than you,’ then ‘B’ will agree with it.

If one’s ability is clearly measurable, others will not object to one’s taking pride in it.

However, no one can measure your ability in spiritual matters. Even if you say, ‘My spirit is high and yours is low,’ or ‘I am awakened and you are not,’ it is nothing more than your own personal opinion.

If you discover a humble feeling within you, it would be fair for you to think that you have made an improvement.

But if you find arrogance in your heart, you could safely say that you have slipped down by just that much.

This might be your most accurate barometer for assessing yourself. It is as Jesus once said: ‘The meek shall inherit the earth.’ There is a saying that goes: ‘Arrogance squelches your talent.’ Just as they say, it hurts you to be arrogant.
