Never try to run from the situation that you are in. If you keep trying to run away from it—telling yourself that this situation is awful and that you really should be somewhere else—the more you struggle to escape, the more you will suffer and the longer your progress will be delayed. There is no better situation for you than the one you are in now. This is because divine love has placed you here, because it is necessary for you to be here. Accept your situation with gratitude if possible, or accept it grudgingly, but understand that it is necessary. Just make up your mind to apply yourself to your work in all sincerity. If you have a job, do your job to the very best of your ability. If you are a student, give all your effort to your studies. If you do, the way of life that best suits you will come your way. This is what is called making the most of your situation. Later on, you will find that your circumstances have worked for your benefit. There would be no reason for divine love to assign you a task that would not bring you any benefit. If you steadily pour all your effort into doing your work without resisting it, the moment will come when divine wisdom says, ‘All right, you have done enough. This phase of your training is over.’ Then you will be placed in a new situation or new surroundings. I myself have had that kind of experience in my life.
